Summer Sci-Comm Program

Welcome to the information page for our second ever science communication program!

Designated for early career students, we aim to provide ample experience in scientific reading, writing and editing. Completion of this program leads to a published article on our website, a certificate of completion, as well as promotion on our social media platforms.

Preferred cohort candidates:

  • High schoolers, community college students, or university students in their first two years

  • Intending to major in psychology, neuroscience, or cognitive science

  • Residing or visiting in North America during the summer (for time zone purposes)

Over the course of six weeks, we will meet once a week to go over background and responsibilities for the following 6 days.​

Week 1: Introduction

Week 2: Choosing a Topic

Week 3: Literature Review

Week 4: Writing

Week 5: Editing

Week 6: Publishing and Completion

Deadlines and Dates

The intended dates for this program are between July 5, 2026 and August 16, 2026.

We will be accepting applications until May 2, 2026. After about a month of review, we will send out decisions by the first week of June.

We're Hiring!

Cohort Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Hosts meeting on editing articles

  • Thoroughly reviews applications

  • Pairs volunteers based on shared interests

Qualifications:

  • Third or fourth year in college

  • Has leadership experience through organizations or clubs

Application Materials:

Literature Mentor

Responsibilities:

  • Hosts meeting on literature reviews and types of articles

  • Give PDFs or other accessible reading formats to the cohort

  • Helps the cohort find articles if needed

Qualifications:

  • Fourth year in college or graduated

  • Has at least one year of research experience

  • Well versed in Google Scholar and has access to scientific articles

Writing Mentor

Responsibilities:

  • Hosts the meeting on writing scicomm articles

  • Available for questions and advice on writing style for the cohort

  • Should prepare an exemplary template for students to use if they get stuck

Qualifications:

  • Prior science writing experience or portfolio

  • Must have completed at least three years of college by summer. We also accept graduate students or post-baccs for this position
